Backing up the Registry in Windows NT 4.0 Workstation

Every now and again, you want to make a backup of the entire Registry file in Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. Although you can export the entire Registry, it makes better sense to make a backup of the Registry.

You must remember that the Windows NT Registry is different than the Windows 9x Registry. The files System.dat and User.dat only appear in Windows 9x. The best approach is to use Rdisk to make a repair disk. You can then use this disk to restore your system in case of a problem.

To create the repair disk, put a blank floppy disk into Drive A. Now click Start, Run, then type "rdisk", and press Enter. When the Repair Disk Utility dialog box opens, click Create Repair Disk.

It's a good idea to make a new repair disk any time you make a change to your system.
