Keeping Tabs on Your Desktop

When you're working with an application in Windows NT 4.0, you might like to be able to press Alt+Tab to get back to the desktop. This isn't something that happens automatically in Version 4.0, but it can be done. To set it up, click My Computer. When the window opens, choose the Toolbar command from the View menu. Click the down arrow at the right side of the toolbar list box. From the list, choose Desktop (it's the first one in the list). Now your window will show the desktop icons. Arrange the icons as you like them.

If you'd like, you can choose the Toolbar command from the View menu again and get rid of the Toolbar. When you finish, click the minimize button. Now when you use Alt+Tab, you'll see the desktop.

If you want to keep the desktop in your Taskbar, don't use F4 to shut down Windows NT. Instead, click the Start button and choose Shutdown.
