In our previous tip, we told you how to set up a 16-bit Windows application to run in its own space. Today, let's look at how you can set up apps in the MS Office toolbar to run in a separate space. First, create a batch file and enter the commands shown here:

start /separate /b d:\msoffice\excel\excel.exe exit Give your batch file a name, such as RunSep.bat. Now start the Office toolbar. On the right side of the toolbar, click the application button. When the menu opens, choose Customize. In the dialog box that appears, choose Toolbar and then Add. The fields should be filled in as shown below:

Description: Custom Excel
Command Line: c:\batch\runsep.bat
(assuming that you named the file RunSep and placed it in a directory named Batch)
Working Directory: Button Image:
