Getting Rid of Unused Drives

If you use a dual-boot system and prefer that your NT users don't have to deal with drives used only by Windows 95, you can get rid of those drives with the Disk Administrator.

Let's say your Windows 95 uses a compressed drive.Windows NT 4.0 won't be able to read the contents of the drive, but the host drive will appear in My Computer and Explorer. To get rid of it, open Disk Administrator and click on the offending drive to select it. Now choose Tools|Assign Drive Letter, then select the radio button labeled Do Not Assign a Drive letter and click OK. Click OK on all dialog boxes that appear and then close Disk Administrator.

If you open My Computer now, you'll see that the drive no longer appears. This can help avoid some confusion on the part of your NT users and has no effect on Windows 95.
