In our last Windows NT/2000 tip, we explained how to create a desktop shortcut to NotePad. If you'd like to have your NotePad shortcut save files to a specific folder, check this out.

If so, right-click the shortcut and choose the Properties command from the pop-up menu. In the Properties dialog box click the Shortcut tab. Now click in the Start In text box and type in the desired folder name and path. For example, if you want the files to save in the Data folder on Drive C, you'd enter

c:\Data

then click OK to close the dialog box and save your changes.
