Windows 98 Easter Egg - Part 2
A while ago we told you how to access the Windows 98 Easter Egg. As it turns out, there's another (and far easier) way to activate it. You can create a shortcut to activate this routine without going through the hassle of trying to accurately click on those tiny points on the map. Just follow these steps:
- Go to the C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\WELCOME\ folder.
- Select Weldata.exe. Create a shortcut to it. (right-click and drag)
- Right-click the shortcut. Make sure you are on the Shortcut tab.
- In the target text box, add the text You_are_a_real_rascal to the end of the path, it should look like this:
"C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\WELCOME\WELDATA.EXE" You_are_a_real_rascal (Adjust the path in case Windows is installed somewhere other than C:\Windows)
- From the Run drop-down list, select Minimized.
- Click OK to save the new shortcut.
There you have it, a shortcut to the Windows 98 Easter Egg.
