Auto-Deletion

If you're looking for an electronic version of your yellow sticky note pad, then look no further than Notepad, from Microsoft Corporation.

Many users use Notepad to store notes while they work. If you do this, then you probably already know that when you cut and paste to move all the text from one of your Notepad "stickies" to its final resting place, Notepad will then decline to save the now empty document. Instead, it will delete the file, with your permission of course.

To take a look at how this works, add some text to a Notepad document and save it under a new name. Now select and cut the text and then choose File, Save. Because there's nothing left in the document to save, Notepad will offer to delete it.

Note: Though most of our NT/2000 tips work under all Profressional versions of Windows, this tip does not work under Windows XP.
