Compressed Folders with Plus! 98
If you've installed Plus! 98 you now have support for Compressed Folders (.ZIP files). Using Compressed Folders, you can organize your compressed files better than ever before.
- Compressed Folders can be moved to any drive or folder on your computer (you can identify them by the zipper on the folder icon).
- Compressed Folders make it easy to archive projects, folders, and files.
- Compressed Folders are compatible with other zip programs. You can share compressed folders with other users, even if they use other zip compression programs.
- Compressed Folders can secure your files and folders by encryption. You'll feel safer when posting files on shared network folders, attaching them to e-mail messages, or moving files between work and home on floppy disks. Only you and people who have the password can open the files.
- Compressed Folders allow you to run programs without having to decompress them. If you can run a program or open a file directly from an icon in a regular folder, you can do the same within a Compressed Folder unless the program is dependent on other files. If so, the files that the program is dependent on should also be extracted.
To create a Compressed Folder, simply highlight the files and/or folders you want to compress, right-click and go to Send To. From there, select Compressed Folders. If you select multiple folders to compress, they will retain the folder structure.
To Extract a Compressed Folder, right-click it and select Extract.
To Encrypt a Compressed Folder, right-click it and select Encrypt, then supply a password.
