Whatever Drive Letter You Want
In a previous tip, we told you how to change the designation of the drive you use to listen to music CDs. But if you want to permanently change the drive assignment without making any hardware changes, you need to do a little more. So, this time, let's look at how you can use the Computer Management Consule to change the drive designations.

To bring up the Computer Management Consule, click Start, Run. When the Run dialog, displays, type,

compmgmt.msc /s

When the Console appears, click the Disk Management icon in the Storage tree. When the display appears, find the drive you want to manage and then right click on it. Choose Change Drive Letter and Paths from the context menu. When the dialog appears, click the Change button. In the resulting dialog, click the drive letter drop down and choose an available drive letter. Click OK until you get back to the Computer Management Console. You'll need to restart your PC for the changes to take effect.
