In Optical Recording, Fast isn't Always Best
New optical recorder drives burn CDs and DVDs at blazing fast rates and play them quickly as well. But don't be fooled by performance numbers alone. With any optical recording drive, look for head-to-head product reviews. Sometimes the actual performance may not be up to specification.
Also, your chances of making a bad recording (where the disc is made useless due to a recording error) go up as your recording speed goes up. Those with recording experience often set the recording speed of their disc writer slower than the unit is capable of writing--just so there are no recording errors.
