If you need to find files very quickly in Windows Explorer, check this out. Run Windows Explorer and press the Tab key to get to the right pane. Now, let's say you want to open \Windows and then locate Notepad.exe. We'll need to make an assumption here. We'll assume that your Explorer opens to the root folder of drive C.

Press W and you'll most likely see that \Windows is selected. If not, try typing

WI

When Windows is selected, press Enter to open the folder. Type

NO

and Explorer selects Notepad.exe. To run Notepad, just press Enter.

When you type a letter, Explorer takes you to the first occurrence of that letter. So typing in N will probably take you to something called Network.???. But NO takes you right to Notepad.
