Blue Ant Q2 Wireless Headset - Intelligent, Elegant and Accurate
Wireless Bluetooth headsets have been a continuous source of headache for me. Of particular concern was that voice or noise quality was awful to adequate, the products didn't fit my ear properly, or worse yet, fell off and I lost them. My business associates would complain constantly about talking to me in a tunnel or the device failed to connect when expected. Over the last couple of years I've been using an iPhone, having switched from Windows Mobile three years ago when my 2 month old Golden Retriever, Breezy, appeared in the doorway with the Treo in her mouth. Since her puppy teeth had penetrated the screen and kaleidescope colors were bleeding out of the device I tossed it. Now I've been known to lose a Bluetooth headset or three and so I have had more than my fair share of trips to Best Buy to examine and purchase these devices. Over the last six months I've used 5 or 6 different devices including: Jawbone Icon, Plantronics Voyager 925 and most recently the Blue Ant Q2 and the S4 (more on that in another review). The Jawbone had a great concept with the app store but in reality it was limited to just a few apps. (I have not yet tried the Aliph Jawbone Era with accelerometer and apps processor).
From my subjective experience the Blue Ant Q2 got the least complaints from my friends and business associates and provided me the best overall experience of those that I've tested. The wind cancellation was very good. The A2DP function is terrific when working on the iPhone with apps like "MailnDrive". I can listen to new email coming in. It will also play my favorite tunes through the headset. I can answer a call by saying "Answer" or ignore it by saying "Ignore". The Bluetooth distance was also exceptional giving me a good 30 feet before I disconnected. The quality of the connection remained good at the outer ranges of the distance. The "Q2" has so far met and exceeded my expectations. It downloaded about 2,000 contacts in less than minute to the headset so it could identify name and associate them with caller ID from my contact list. I can highly recommend the Blue Ant Q2 with no reservations. It's also one of the only Bluetooth sets I've found reasonably comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time and won't fall out of my ear. -- Howard Sobel, WUGNET
