If you want to keep others from accessing your system, the best way to do this is to log off the workstation. However, this is rather time consuming when all you have to do is step away for a moment. Thankfully, there is away to do this while you're away from your desk--and this method is built into Windows NT Workstation 4.0. All you have to do is press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. When the Windows NT Security dialog box opens, click Lock Workstation. Once you do this, no one can access your computer without a password.

This method takes only a few seconds and works in Windows 2000 as well.
