Changing Windows Registration
Did your PC come with Windows 95 preinstalled? Doesn't it bother you to see that you're registered as "OEMUser" or some other impersonal name? Or do you regret that when you installed Windows, you registered under your real name and now want it removed? Either way, this can be changed. Here's how:
•Make sure you have a backup of the Registry. (See below)
•Launch the Registry Editor, select Start/Run, type regedit in the text box, and press Enter.
•Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, select Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion.
•In the RIGHT PANE, Double-click the RegisteredOrganization or RegisteredOwner options, and type in your changes.
•Exit, and restart Windows.
WARNING!! This is a REGISTRY HACK! And as such, you MUST FIRST make a backup of your Registry so that you can recover from any mistakes you might make. The Registry is a very unforgiving place if you don't know EXACTLY what you are doing. An incorrect Registry entry can render your entire system INOPERABLE. DO NOT attempt to change Registry settings without a Backup.
Don't say we didn't warn you...
The Configuration Backup Utility is one of the CD-Extras, so if you don't have the CD-ROM version of Windows 95, CLICK HERE to download it now.
