Speed up IE's startup
Last week we told you how to Set the default system.htm file to a page of your choosing. Why not use that same page as the default startup page instead of having to take the time to connect to an internet web site?

You can really reduce Internet Explorer's startup time by starting with a local page instead - one that is already on your hard drive. Here's how. Click on View, Options, Navigation. Make sure Start Page is selected, and type

file://c:\windows\system\blank.htm

Adjust the path as needed. If you don't want a blank page, substitute a custom page, maybe one filled with your favorite links. Internet Explorer will now open this local page at startup, and much faster than having to connect to a page on the web.
