Internet Access through a proxy server
A proxy server acts as a security barrier between your internal network and the Internet, keeping other people on the Internet from gaining access to confidential information on your internal network.

To configure your computer for Internet access by using a proxy server

Obtain the proxy system address from your network administrator.

On the View menu, click Options.

Click the Connection tab.

In the Proxy Server area, select the Connect Through A Proxy Server check box.

Click Settings, and then type the appropriate proxy system address or addresses supplied by your system administrator.
