Consolidate your swap files
Windows 95 and Windows NT use different virtual memory swap files. If you run both operating systems on the same PC, however, NT's paging file (PAGEFILE.SYS) wastes a considerable amount of disk space during Win 95 sessions. If your NT partition isn't running the NTFS (New Technology File System), you can save disk space by making both operating systems share the same paging file. Win 95 can't read NTFS volumes, so both OS's must be running on FAT partitions for this to work. You'll need to edit the SYSTEM.INI file in your Windows 95 folder. Open SYSTEM.INI in Notepad, and scroll down to the [386Enh] section header. Create a new line space within the section, and then type the following:
pagingfile=?:\pagefile.sys
(Substitute your NT drive in place of "?".)
