More About Install on First Use
A couple of weeks ago, we talked about Office 2000's revamped installation (Office 2000 Setup - Select/Update Features)and how it now offers up to eight different install options. All of them are more or less self explanatory but one in particular, Install on First Use, seems to be a little confusing. Let's clear that up right now.

Selecting Install on First Use causes that particular feature to be included as part of the installation, but the files required to actually enable that feature are not copied to the hard drive. Only when you go to use that feature for the first time, will Office ask for the CD, so that it can finish installation. From that point on, whenever you go to use that feature, Office won't have to ask for the CD.
