Enable Ratings for Safer Surfing
Would you like to place some limits on what your children can view on the Internet? You can using Internet Explorer's built-in Ratings. Choose the Options command from the View menu. Click the Security tab, then click Enable Ratings. Now select a supervisor password. Go to the Ratings tab and select ratings for language, nudity, sex, and violence. Next, click the General tab and select the check box labeled "Supervisor." Type in a password for authorization to see restricted content. From now on, whenever a user tries to access an unauthorized site, they must type in the password.
Note: This security system might not be foolproof, since it does depend on a website's content provider to be subscribed to the RSACi rating system (the Recreational Software Advisory Council on the Internet), but it's a step in the right direction for parents with small children with Internet access.
