Adding Sound Schemes to Windows 95

Why stick with the same old default "Ding" and "Chord" sound files that you've been listening to since Windows 3.x? Add some pizzazz to your daily routine!

If you haven't installed the various "Sound Schemes" that ship with Windows 95, you still can. Open Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs. Click on the Windows Setup tab and scroll down to Multimedia. Click the Details button and you'll see the selections that you can install, including Jungle, Musica, Robotz and Utopia. Select one or all and click OK (Make sure you have your Win95 installation CD handy).

Once your sound schemes are installed you can activate them by going to Control Panel, Sounds. Go down to the Schemes list and scroll through the list and pick one. By default, all of the individual .WAV files will be stored in your \Windows\Media folder.

If you don't happen to have the CD-ROM version of Windows 95, don't worry. You can download the Sound Schemes right here.
