Keep that Repair Disk Updated!

One of our earliest NT tips told you to Make sure you have a Repair Disk! It can be a lifesaver if you ever need it, and being without one can be disastrous - but here's something else. Just having a Repair Disk isn't enough. You have to have a CURRENT Repair Disk. Over time, your NT installation changes considerably with the addition of Program Applications, Service Packs, Browser updates (IE4) and even hardware. All of these things make changes to the registry that you'll want to have recorded on the Repair Disk if you ever need it, otherwise you may wind up restoring an ancient registry that will no longer work with the current configuration.

As a rule, anytime you make any significant changes to your NT installation, make a new Repair Disk!

You can find the Repair Disk utility under Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools. Otherwise, look for RDISK.EXE in your Winnt\System32 folder.
