Compress entire volumes

A while ago, we told you how to compress files and folders in NT running the NTFS file system. But did you know you can also compress entire volumes (drives) to save disk space? Well you can and here's how.

To compress an NTFS volume:

1. In My Computer or Windows NT Explorer, click the volume you want to compress. 2. On the File menu, click Properties. 3. Select the Compress check box that also displays the drive letter of the volume you selected (for example, Compress D:\). 4. Click OK.
