A while ago, we told you about the NT Disk Administrator and some of the things it can do, such as assigning (or changing) drive letter designations. Very handy if you ever add a new hard drive or CD-ROM and want to swap out a drive designation. But this tool can also get you into trouble if you make a mistake and can't get back to where you were before you started.

Fortunately, you can save your current configuration before you start making changes. To do this, click Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Disk Administrator. Now, before you start work, choose Partition, Configuration, Save. Insert a formatted floppy disk into Drive A and click OK.

Now go ahead and mess with the partitions, you can restore them later if you choose Partition, Configuration, Restore and click Yes.
