New Dr. Watson

Another major improvement in Windows 98 is the new and vastly improved Dr. Watson.

This utility pinpoints the cause of software faults. In doing this, Dr. Watson can help reduce your support costs and troubleshooting time. When a fault occurs, Dr. Watson:

  • Intercepts the software fault.
  • Identifies the software that faulted.
  • Collects detailed information about the state of your system at the time the fault occurred.
  • Offers a detailed description of why the fault occurred so product support personnel can determine the cause.
To start Dr. Watson, go to the Start button, click Run and type in drwatson and click OK. Drwatson.exe is located in your \Windows folder.

To have Dr. Watson watch over your system all of the time, just create a shortcut to drwatson in your StartUp folder.
