How to Put Volume Control in the Taskbar
When you first installed Windows NT Workstation 4.0, the volume control icon always appeared in the taskbar. If you recently had to do a complete reinstall, the volume control on the system tray doesn't always come back. You can follow these instructions to put it back.
To put the volume control into the taskbar, click Start, Settings, Control Panel. When Control Panel opens, double-click the Multimedia tab. When the Multimedia Properties dialog box opens, click the Audio tab. Now, select the check box labeled "Show volume control on the taskbar" and click OK to close the dialog box and save your settings.
The next time you start the system, the volume control icon will appear in the system tray.
