SOS! Emergency! No Emergency Repair Disk!
If you don't have an emergency repair disk and you need to run an emergency repair, here's what to do. If your Windows NT system files are located on a FAT partition, you can start your system to MS-DOS, then copy the files in the \%Systemroot%\Repair directory to an NT formatted floppy disk (make sure you copy to the root of the disk). If your system files are on an NTFS partition, you need to install another copy of Windows NT in a separate directory. Start Windows NT from the new installation and copy the files in \%Systemroot%\Repair to the root of an NT formatted floppy. To make a Windows NT formatted floppy in Windows NT 3.51, open File Manager, put the floppy into the drive, choose File|Disk and then select Format Disk from the menu. Select the drive and capacity, and click OK. In Windows NT 4.0, double-click on My Computer. Place a floppy disk in the drive and right-click the Drive A icon. Choose Format from the menu and click OK. Whichever method you use, once you have the floppy disk, you can run the repair process. Just select Emergency Repair Disk, and use the disk you just created.
