Installation: NT Vs. Windows 95b, Part 1 of 2
If you're thinking of installing Windows NT 4.0 on a new computer that shipped with Windows 95 installed, you may have a problem. Most new computers ship with Windows 95b. If the disk was formatted with the new hard disk support, Windows NT can't recognize the disk.
To see if this might pose a problem for you, go to the Command prompt and run FDISK to see how the disk is partitioned. FDISK will ask if you want to use large hard disk support. Press Esc to continue. Now choose to view the partitions. This will be either item 4 or 5. If the disk partition is labeled FAT32, you can't use it with Windows NT.
