Using Panasonic CD-ROM Drives - Part 1 of 2
You can install Windows NT 4.0 on a computer with a Panasonic CD-ROM drive that's attached to a sound card. The problem is that once the installation is completed, NT won't recognize the drive. This happens because the CD-ROM drive is running under the MS-DOS drivers during the installation.
To get Windows NT 4.0 to recognize the CD-ROM drive, you'll need the MKECR5XX.SYS driver in the installation CD's /i386 folder. Since you can't read the CD-ROM drive at this point, you'll have to have the file available on your hard disk before you reach this point. Before you begin installing NT 4.0, create a directory named I386 and copy MKECR5XX.SYS to it.
