The Right Port in a Storm
If you have problems getting your internal modem to work in Windows NT 4.0, try setting the modem to use COM 2.
For information on how to do this, check your modem's instruction manual. Most computers assign COM 1 and COM 2 to the built-in COM ports. However, many modern computers will automatically reassign the ports if a hardwired port appears on the same COM port. If your computer doesn't do this, you'll need to check the computer's instruction manual to find out how to manually reassign the ports.
