NT 4.0 Option Pack
Included with NT 4.0 Server, you'll find the Option Pack CD. The Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack makes Windows NT Server an even stronger Web, Application, and Communications Platform.
Businesses are looking to standards-based Web technologies to more effectively exchange information with customers, partners, and employees worldwide. And, they are trying to implement solutions that take advantage of existing investments in skills and technology. Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 and the Option Pack is designed to meet these needs for a wide range of users, from workgroups and departments on a corporate intranet to Internet Service Providers hosting Web sites that receive millions of hits per day. The Option Pack and Windows NT Server 4.0 make it easier to build Web applications, manage your Web sites, and publish and share information.
The Option Pack delivers the following new application and communications services, that enable the development of the next generation of distributed applications on Windows NT Server 4.0:
- Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0
- Microsoft Transaction Server 2.0
- Microsoft Message Queue Server 1.0
- Microsoft Index Server 2.0
- Microsoft Certificate Server 1.0
- Internet Connection Services for Microsoft RAS
- Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3
- Microsoft Site Server Express 2.0

- Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 4.01
Notes: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 must be installed on the target system before you install the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack. This does not prohibit your use of other browsers.
For more information on the NT 4.0 Option pack, see http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/exec/overview/whatnew.asp.
The NT 4.0 Option Pack wasn't always included with NT 4.0 Server. The earliest release of NT 4.0 Server didn't include the Option Pack CD, but if you purchase it now, it is included. Not to worry, you can still download it for free at http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/recommended/NT4OptPk/default.asp.
