The Windows Update log file
By now, you've probably made good use of Windows 98's Windows Update feature. In fact, you may have used it enough that's it getting hard to keep track of all the changes you've made along the way.

Fear not, all changes made by Windows Update are recorded for you into a simple text file that you can explore anytime you want to see where you stand. Look in your \Windows folder for WULOG.TXT, then just double-click it to launch it in Notepad. This log file will give you details about all of the updates installed, as well as build (version) numbers and the dates and times when they were installed.

Also, whenever you visit the Windows Update site at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/, you'll see a button marked Installation History on the Product Updates page. Your WULOG.TXT file is where this information gets pulled for display.
