Using Scanners and Cameras
The Scanners and Cameras icon appears in the Control Panel when you install your first scanner or digital camera in Windows 98. Then you can use the Scanners and Cameras feature to install other scanners, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, and image-capturing devices. This Control Panel applet is especially useful if you have any non-Plug-and-Play hardware that wasn't detected automatically.

After a device is installed, Scanners and Cameras can link it to a program on your computer. For example, when you push the Scan button on your scanner, you can have the scanned picture automatically open in the program you want.

Note: You can also open Scanners and Cameras by searching your \Windows\System folder for STICPL.CPL, then double-clicking it.

For more information on setting up and configuring a scanner or a camera, click Start, Help, click the Index tab, then enter a keyword of either Cameras or Scanners. Once you've done that you can hit Enter to see more topics.
