Take Your Desktop Over The Rainbow—Part 1 of 2
Do you get tired of the plain blue, white, and gray look of your open windows? Can't stare at that turquoise desktop for another minute? Then redecorate a little. Windows 98 comes loaded with pre-made color schemes that can give your desktop a whole new look on life.

Right-click the desktop and select Properties. Click the Appearance tab, and in the list under Scheme, select any color scheme to see its preview at the top of the dialog box. Try Desert for a Southwestern look, or Marine for an under-the-sea kind of feel. Continue selecting schemes until you find one that suits your style. Once you do, click OK to apply it to your desktop. With all these options, you'll never have the desktop blahs again.

(Note: To switch back to the Windows defaults, select Windows Standard in the Scheme list, then click OK.)
