Double-Click Restart
OK, so you want to restart Windows 95. Let's see, First you have to click the Start button, then select Shut Down, then another menu appears asking you how you want to restart, then you have to confirm it by clicking Yes. A bit much isn't it? Would you prefer a way that only requires a double-click? Just set up a simple MS-DOS batch file and place a shortcut icon right on the desktop. From then on, restarting Windows 95 is just a double-click away.

Open Notepad and type the following: @EXIT

Save the file anywhere you want but make sure you save it with a .BAT extension, such as RESTART.BAT, then close Notepad. Find the new file in Explorer and place a shortcut to it on the desktop.

Click the shortcut with the right mouse button, choose "Properties", and on the Program tab, select the "Close on Exit" option. Click "Advanced", select "MS-DOS mode", and deselect "Warn before entering MS-DOS mode". Click OK twice. Ready to restart Windows 95? Double-click your new desktop icon!
