Installing IE 4.0 in NT 4.0
If you're running Windows NT 4.0 and you're considering upgrading to Internet Explorer 4.0 or 4.01 - don't even consider it until you've downloaded and installed the NT Service Pack 3. It is REQUIRED!

There is one small exception to this rule, and that is: if you have a previous version of 128-bit Internet Explorer installed, you only need to install the regular version of Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0 to maintain that security. If you do not have a 128-bit version of Internet Explorer and you are running Windows NT 4.0, then you must download NT Service Pack 3 before you can run Internet Explorer 4.0.
